I Heart Regina

Just in time for Labour Day, I had the priviledge of watching a City of Regina employee once again demonstrating how the City of Regina enacts a policy of duplicity with respect to its rules and enforcement with the fine citizens of the City of Regina. On Friday afternoon, I saw a City of Regina employee driving Victoria avenue, picking up Garage Sale signs from the boulevard.

Yes, another chapter in the ongoing saga of the Sobey's strikers and the City of Regina's refusal to enforce City of Regina Bylaw 9881 equally!

Upon return to my office, I called the City of Regina's general line (777-7000) and talked with a rather bubbly call center employee. I then pointed out that the City of Regina emplyee was doing a fine job of picking up Garage Sale signs that the fine Citzens of Regina had erected on City of Regina property, and I wanted to make sure that this employee did not miss the signs the Sobey's Strikers had erected on the boulevard. The signs have been looking rather ratty and disheveled of late as nobody had been enforcing City of Regina bylaw 9881 again. I was hoping that the City of Regina employee would take a short drive down Albert street and pick up those natty signs and the Union could trot out some fresh ones. All my hopes were for naught as the City of Regina employee DID NOT pick up the illegal signs.

Its one thing for a taxpaying City of Regina resident to place a sign on a boulevard and perhaps make a few bucks selling crap they no longer need out of the garage, its fine for the City of Regina Bylaw Enforcement Gestapo to pick up your signs....but God Forbid you enforce the same bylaw on a pain in the ass whining Union. Why does the RWDSU get a free ride and a pass on illegal signs, but a taxpayer gets screwed? Simple, the City of Regina has no back bone and will roll over and take it up the butt from a Union that needs to be spanked like a child throwing a temper tantrum. The City of Regina has an official policy of duplicity and will screw the very people who pay for and place the Mayor and his equally spinless chronies in office. FLOREAT REGINA DUPLICITOUS. The City's historic motto in Latin can be translated as "Let Regina Flourish Duplicitiously. Figures, eh?
